"It’s a miracle that any game gets finished at all," the developer explains. But Free Lives says the studio has had a positive experience with Early Access. But over the years, Early Access' reputation has become somewhat tarnished as projects of low quality being released and sometimes never launching properly. This isn't the first project that Free Lives released into Early Access – the studio has put out both Broforce and VR title Gorn launched into Steam's alpha launch scheme. "There were definitely more than a few times that we woke up in the middle of the night wondering what we were doing with our lives." ![]() We had some low points where we wondered if we’d gone down the wrong path completely. Not having players provide that constant stream of motivation and feedback was definitely a struggle. But after that we were working in secret on the story mode for the best part of a year. ![]() We released the multiplayer modes on Early Access first, and did a few updates to them. A typical Early Access development process also helps us stay on track with the regular updates providing mini-deadlines and milestones."įree Lives continues: "Genital Jousting was a bit different from our typical Early Access development process. Never testing your ideas is really risky. We’re also big on player feedback, getting the game out to players early allows us to stay motivated and see what is and isn’t working with the design. "Which in turn helps us shape the scope of the project - if people are enjoying what we’re making and supporting the game, we can spend more time on it. "Early Access gives us an opportunity to gauge player interest," the studio says. Genital Jousting launched into Early Access – the team chose this model so that the community could shape the project. "The first stepping stone was just the thought that the juxtaposition of a colourful penis in a fully narrated – but otherwise mundane – world was hilarious. "The game never really had to be pitched to anyone, it just kind of evolved from what we thought was funny and the kind of story we wanted to tell," Free Lives (yep, the entire studio) says. If someone's art is really a high priority, paying close to $60 a month for access to a giant amount of professional creative software is not all that bad. 11/24/2023 0 Comments Carolina reaper sauce puckerbuttHis first day on the job after passing his Series 7 test was October 19, 1987, also known as Black Monday, when global markets collapsed. "I liked drinking with the frat boys," he says.Ĭurrie eventually became a stock broker. He grew up in Michigan and ended up on the seven-year college plan, bouncing from school to school. "I started studying peppers back in 1981 when I went to college," says Currie. That's because there was a good chance none of this would happen. "If I told you 10 years ago that this would be happening, you would call me a bold faced liar," Currie says, hardly believing it himself. Revenues are growing around 26 percent a year. PuckerButt Pepper's founder says last year sales were around $1.5 million, most of it wholesale to food manufacturers. "I won't lie to you, eating a Carolina Reaper is like eating lava, it hurts when you initially eat it," Currie says, "but eventually that endorphin rush takes over, and it feels good." The pain they cause is followed by something similar to a runner's high. (Theoretically capsaicin toxicity could be deadly, but your body would not allow you to digest enough extreme chilis to do the job.) Indeed, Currie says they can actually be good for you. He also insists super hot peppers cannot kill you. In fact, he starts every morning with a few drops of his own private hot sauce tincture. ![]() For beginners, Currie suggests following up any pepper sampling with bananas, donuts or protein bars to help with recovery.Įven breathing the air in Currie's store can make one's eyes water and throat feel a little raw, but he is oblivious.
11/24/2023 0 Comments Complex origami lotusStill, Japanese style origami maintained its special form, meaning and charm. When the Moors entered Spain, they brought this skill with them, it spread across the Pyrenean peninsula and then across the whole of Western Europe, becoming common in the 19th century. Paper folding art was not indigenous to Japan alone, but it had appeared in Europe as well. The end of the 19th century was marked with the appearance of the name for this noble art as we know it today, switching from “orikata” to origami. In the mid eighteen-hundreds, Adachi Kazuyuki teamed up with Kaya Ragusa and issues a more elaborate textbook in origami. The first written instructions for making items out of paper date back to the late seventeen-hundreds, tracing to the famous “secret to folding one thousand cranes” book, or Senbazuru Orikata, by Akisato Rito. The progress of paper production made origami widespread and affordable, while skills and forms of paper folding developed, making it a very special form of art. Origami was developing greatly over centuries and when Edo period began with the sixteen hundreds, it has already become a leisure activity, although it kept the ceremonial purpose it originally had. Therefore, origami was intended to be used during religious ceremonies only at first. Handmade and rare, paper was a luxurious commodity, available only to the richest. Having been invented in China at the very beginning of the second century AD, paper entered Japan four centuries later, brought to the country by monks. ![]() ![]() The name of origami is derived from Japanese terms oru, which means “to fold”, and kami, meaning “paper”. Therefore, origami flowers bring us back to the bountiful history spreading across the Japanese culture, social system and all islands. But what is it that can make origami so magical, so engaging and so deeply touching? Origami is the art of paper folding similar to napkin folding from Japan. Everybody knows about origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. |
